Forbes described it as a mansion that has a Gothic Tudor style. Even the King of Rock, Elvis Presley, has a special room that is known to many millions as a secret room that nobody has ever even had a glimpse of.

If you do not know who Elvis Presley is, then, better brush up on your Music history. There are many impersonators in Vegas that copy the style of the late King of Rock. Yes Guys you know it and the founder of Playboy magazine Hugh Hefner also said it that Elvis Presley likes women of all colors. Hefner, who is an avid fan of the King of rock said, that during the early 70's Elvis stayed in the mansion with only eight girls in the room. Hefner said that most celebrities always want to see and stay at the Elvis suite, but Hefner does not allow anybody in the room, so this room will always remain an enigma to the public's eye.

Real Tourism: Practice, Care, and Politics in Contemporary Travel Culture (Contemporary Geographies of Leisure, Tourism and Mobility) Overview

Over the past decade, tourism studies has broken out of its traditional institutional affiliation with business and management programs to take its legitimate place as an interdisciplinary social science field of cutting edge scholarship. The field has emerged as central to ongoing debates in social theory concerning such diverse topics as postcolonialism, mobility, and postmodernism, to name just a few. While there has been a diverse body of empirical research on this transformation the theoretical discussions in tourism studies remain largely attached to theories of modernity and Anglo-centric assumptions about tourism. There is a need for the field to come to terms theoretically with the contemporary and future realities of tourism as a truly global phenomenon.

Real Tourism is a significant volume which sets this new theoretical agenda, engaging directly with what tourism does in practice and in place and demonstrates the need for a theoretical intervention that moves tourism scholarship beyond the province of Anglophone thinking. The volume achieves this by explicitly bridging ‘western’ and ‘non-western’ scholarship on tourism; reframing theoretical discussions around ‘real practices’ instead of abstract typologies; and radically delinking tourism theory from the grand narratives of modernity and assumptions about authenticity, identity, tradition, and development. The book brings together leading academics in the field and provides provocative multidisciplinary and multi-contextual reflection on the future of tourism.

This original, timely and compelling volume puts forward new post modernist ideas and arguments about tourism today and in the future.  It is essential reading for students, researchers and academics interested in Tourism.

The Elvis suite is one of the many places in the mansion. There are several places in the mansion that a person can visit, if ever they get a chance to be invited by Hefner himself. The mansion lies on a 5.3 acres of land. It is located near the northwestern corner of the Los Angeles Country Club, which is close to University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

The mansion consists of 29 rooms which includes a cellar for wine, a room reserved for games, even a zoo and aviary which comes with a pet cemetery (in case an animal dies). There are also several tennis courts, a beautiful waterfall and don't forget swimming pool area which is great if you want to see the playmates in their swimsuits?

The secret room known as the "Elvis Suite" is kept out of the public view until now, simply because Hefner wants to keep it a special room. Like most of us, we want to keep something special all to ourselves, simply because we want to preserve the memory of that someone from our past. Maybe not into the distant future the public may yet still see this special room specially reserved for Elvis Presley and we can discover what secrets lies in this room.

Playboy Mansion may remain a dream to millions of guys but we can always dream. We can also hope to be able to see the Elvis Presley secret room, playing the music of Elvis, while being surrounded by not one but many Playboy playmates.
